HMONG / LAOTIAN MINISTRY
God wants all people to be with him in Heaven. Russell Buck
trusted that his ticket to Heaven was bought and paid for by Jesus
-- a free gift. He wanted others to receive the same great message
he had received from little on. So Russ supported a beginning
ministry to help the Hmong people of Green Bay, Wisconsin. We
thank you for picking up where Russ left off. Here’s what’s
been going on over the past two years since God has called Russ
home to Heaven. About $32,000 has been contributed to the Russell
Buck Fund. This includes all original memorial monies.
- About 45 adults have been baptized (and many children)
- There are 10 more adults and 14 children being prepared
for baptism.
- Jonah Lee stopped working at Carver Boat, and is
full time evangelist.
- Jonah has reached out to 25 Laotian people in Green
Bay.
- Phomma Chindaphone (Laotian) is being trained as
an evangelist.
- The first Hmong / Laotian worship service was held
October 5, 2008.
- Phomma will travel to Laos in November, 2008 to assist
Christian families from his home town village. Note: There is
one Bible for 15 Christian families in a village of over 100,000
people (Bibles and Christian churches are against government
policy in Laos).
- Anglo pastors connected to Beautiful Savior Lutheran
church (WELS) are training Jonah and Phomma.
- Jonah attended WELS Seminary in Milwaukee in Summer
of 2007.
- Jonah and Phomma attended an Asian Christian Conference
in the Wisconsin Dells (Asian pastors from around the United
States).
- First Lutheran in Green Bay has donated two offices
and rooms for teaching, and storage of food and clothing.
- A farmer from Beautiful Savior has donated land for
use by Hmong and Laotian families to plant gardens for food.
- Jonah meets with teenage men and their girl friends
each Friday night (drum, guitar, computer lessons, Bible Study).
- Jonah meets with Hmong / Laotian adults each Saturday
(English lessons, Bible Study).
- Jonah and Phomma make regular visits in homes, hospitals,
and parks to share Jesus with anyone they can.
- Jonah and Phomma help Hmong / Lao immigrants apply
for jobs.
May God, the Holy Spirit, continue to bless his Word as it goes
out to the Asian people of Brown County, Wisconsin. May God continue
to open up hearts and minds to support this ministry with prayers
and funds until we are all home safe in Heaven.
