MISSION WORK IN WISCONSIN
(Brown County: Green Bay Area)
God’s eyes saw the spiritually lost Hmong and Laotian people
of Brown County before the world began. That’s why Jesus
came and died and rose again. “For God so loved the world
that he gave his one and only Son…” God wants all
peoples, races, and ethnic groups to be in heaven with him forever.
But how can the Hmong and Laotian speaking people in the Green
Bay area hear about what Jesus has done for them? Who will communicate
God’s Word to them in a language they can read or understand?
Many Hmong and Laotian adults in Brown County grew up in Laos
or Thailand. They do not speak English at all…or well enough
to discuss the basic truths of God’s Word – the Bible.
With your prayers and financial support this problem can be solved.
God has raised up bi-lingual Christian Evangelists to reach
out to the Hmong and Laotian people. After about five years work,
God has drawn 28 Laotian souls and 27 Hmong people to himself
in Christ. God has wonderfully blessed the sacrifice and efforts
of Chouapao Lee and Phomma Chindaphone as they have patiently
visited and taught God’s Word. Imagine the divine miracle
it took for the Hmong and Laotian people to say “no”
to their past life and religion – and “yes”
to the new life in Christ. Only God, the Holy Spirit, could have
produced such change in a human heart and mind. But God has surely
done it. He has used many in the effort.
Even as a young man Russell Buck (son of Drew and Sharon Buck,
called home to heaven in October of 2006) had this mission field
touch his heart. Russ was not perfect, but he trusted in Jesus
as his savior. He knew he was dearly loved by God – and
that God loved people. So…Russ researched many ministries.
He wanted to help people. He wanted to use his money to support
God’s work – and make an eternal difference in people’s
lives. God led Russ to support the Hmong and Laotian mission work
in Brown County with a portion of his wages from the US Coast
Guard – even before the first Hmong or Laotian person was
baptized. Russ believed that is what God wanted him to do with
his money. And he did it.
It takes a measure of love and faith and personal sacrifice
to support Christian ministry. It takes prayer and patience to
determine which ministries God wants you to support financially.
It is, after all, a mystery as to how God directs the hearts of
his own – and ultimately gets his divine work done. Therefore,
we do not pray that you give money to this fund…but to God.
We do not pray that you give money to this fund…but to the
ministry which God himself puts on your heart (Ephesians 2:8-10,
Philippians 2:13, Psalm 1:3, Psalm 20:4,5). As your fellow brothers
and sisters in Christ, trust that God will guide you.
We also trust that God will provide the financial resources
needed to reach the Hmong and Loatian in Brown County –
and beyond. Our all-loving and all-powerful God, who worked in
the heart of Russell Buck, will work in the hearts of others also.
What is God leading you to do?
