Phomma (Laotian
Evangelist) will travel from Green Bay back to his home village
in southern Laos. Financing from the Russell Buck fund has provided
Laotian Language Bibles, Phomma’s personal training, and
two motorcycles (used to take Bibles out to people). Phomma will
follow up with the 18 families he spoke with back in November
of 2008. Two leaders have been chosen to lead the group in Phomma’s
absence. The local leaders will be trained from Green Bay via
the internet. Laos is under Communist rule. Therefore, Christianity
can not be practiced openly in most of the country. Bibles can
not be taken into Laos. Phomma hopes to teach God’s Word
and baptize many people. These will be the first known Christian
baptisms in that part of Laos since the communist take-over in
1975. Currently, the village has one Bible shared by 18 families.
Family members walk many miles to exchange the Bible. With your
prayers and financial support through the Russell Buck Fund, hopefully
this fledgling Christian group will survive, flourish, and spread
God’s Word to other villages. Exact names and locations
can not be put in print for the sake of safety of all Christians
involved. Therefore, the method of getting Bibles to the village
can not be shared. May our gracious God watch over the distribution
of his life-giving Word. May those who financially support and
do this mission work be blessed and protected!
